When a U.S.-sponsored coup in Chile destroyed the democratically elected Unidad Popular government of Salvador Allende, Rini produced a large portfolio of art and poetry entitled "Homage to Neruda" to raise funds for the Chilean people. This was one of only two occasions when she signed her art work.
