When the Cuban Revolution overthrew dictator Batista on Jan. 1, 1959, Rini was on hand to celebrate, having traveled there from Mexico. She returned to work in Cuba in 1961-64 as a literacy teacher and later founded a printmaking workshop. She made these drawings while there and always defended the Cuban Revolution.
