Over 60 small farmer groups formed by the National Plan de Ayala Coordinator (CNPA) in 1979 to assert the principles of Zapata's revolutionary Plan de Ayala for land reform. Thousands marched in Mexico City and made the voice of small farmers heard after years of repression.
